⏱ 10 min read

Thyroid tests help evaluate how well your thyroid gland is working. The thyroid produces hormones that regulate metabolism, energy, and many bodily functions.

Key Thyroid Tests

TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone): The most common thyroid test. High TSH suggests hypothyroidism; low TSH suggests hyperthyroidism.

Free T3: Measures the active form of thyroid hormone.

Free T4: Measures the main hormone produced by the thyroid.

Understanding Your Results

  • Hypothyroidism (underactive): High TSH, low T3/T4
  • Hyperthyroidism (overactive): Low TSH, high T3/T4
